Kevin Opondo, from Bondo in Kenya, owns a small business that sells a variety of household goods. Since finding the Haraka app online, Kevin has taken out almost 200 Haraka loans. He uses the loan to purchase stock for his business.
Tino Nhingalela from Beira, Mozambique has taken out 16 loans from MyBucks during the financial year to fund the stock of his grocery shop. Tino used the loan finance to build his own shop; continued his studies; and saved money to start a 'tchopela' (also known as tuk-tuk) business in addition to his existing business.
Funds used to pay for a space in the market and buy more stock. 'I paid for a space in the market and bought my brother ten crates of eggs.' 'I am proud that I assisted my younger brother and made his dream come. Thank GetBucks.'
Mr G Simango, acquired a loan to invest in a diesel grinding mill. Today his small business thrives and he is thinking of expanding it to more shun areas of his community. Receiving constant praise from his fellow villagers, he has managed to employ 5 people.
Over the past few years GetBucks Botswana has built a strong relationship with Kubung Primary school, which has resulted in a solid foundation for children’s education. Over the years the GetBucks has assisted with much needed goods including a water tank, school uniforms and shoes, a vegetable garden for the school, sports equipment, as well as learning aids for the children.
Since 2016, GetBucks Swaziland has made an enormous impact to the children at Mashobeni Methodist Primary school. Through identifying much needed school equipment and goods for the children, GetBucks have since sponsored the school with a water tank, learning aids, uniforms and also established a feeding programme that see GetBucks deliver food staple food items to the school every month.
The past few years GetBucks Malawi has assisted Nkanga School with a much-needed feeding programme to help less fortunate children in the community with a simple necessity: Food. With the feeding programme, GetBucks Malawi has also assisted the local community by purchasing maize from local farmers to feed the pupils.
For just over a year GetBucks Zambia have opened their hearts to the children at the SOS Children’s Village that takes in children that have been orphaned by AIDS. GetBucks Zambia have run many initiatives that have brought smiles to the children’s faces, including days of fun with jumping castles and delicious and nourishing food as well as being visited by Father Christmas.
Opportunity Bank empowers small business
Pinto Mariano Pinto, started a small business selling groceries at the age of 16, whilst still attending school. He decided to approach a bank to get a loan to improve his small business. Today, thanks to Opportunity Bank Mozambique, Mr. Pinto has built his own house, and also built his improved shop with the profit from the business.
